Sertao
Morfosi, 2023
The Sertão collection is a tribute to the archaic and wild charm of the Northeast of Brazil and its traditional culture. Among the many forms of craftsmanship in this region, manual leather processing is widespread, closely linked to livestock farming.
This collection pairs the statuesque beauty of marble with the elegance and softness of hand-cut, hand-sewn leather, resulting in unique furniture pieces. The tables stand out with their conical solid wood bases, wrapped in various cuts of leather to form irregular patterns, supporting a solid marble top available in a range of finishes. The minimalist simplicity of the stone contrasts yet complements the rich texture and materiality of the leather.
Drawing inspiration from the traditional techniques of Brazilian artisans—who create original forms through layered leather and detailed stitching—we have developed three base designs: Scale, Seam, and Patchwork, each distinguished by different textures and finishes, achieved through the assembly or stitching of the leather.
