The subject for SaloneSatellite2013 is “Design and Craftsmanship: together for industry”: two ways for interpreting the projects that combine to create high quality products. Following this direction, I have developed new projects in collaboration with artisans from different Italian regions and bearers of traditional production techniques.

Roots Vases

The Roots vases are ambivalent objects that want to combine simple lines with an iconic shape: an outer clear glass cylinder is joined with an internal element in colored glass which represents the roots of a flower.

These objects, made in blown borosilicate glass, are ambivalent because they can be used as decorative flower pots in two directions: on the first side as an one flower-vase and for group of flowers of the other side.

The Roots Vases can be bought actually in Milan at Galleria Luisa Delle Piane, and soon in other countries.

Design Market at Abitare il Tempo 100% Project 2012

At the "Design Market", invited by Giulio Cappellini among other young designers, during the Abitare il Tempo 100% Project 2012 fair, was presented the exhibition "In Technicolor": it was a retrospective of self-production projects and prototypes produced till now.

The projects  presented were: Tweety Table Lamp (with new colors), Cindy Lamp (with a new color) and Alfred Coffee Table.

Scooby-Doo Lamp for La Lampe

The Scooby-Doo lamp on one hand wants to refer to the classicism in design, especially through the use of materials like copper and blown glass, on the other hand, wants to dialogue with modernity, represented by the desire of simplifying and the reduction of components to assemble it.

An essential blown glass lampshade then relies on a structure in copper tubing that, because of subsequent bends, from vertical support becomes a base.

The Scooby-Doo will be produced by the Brazilian manufacturer La Lampe (group Dominici - La Lampe) and was presented officially during the event Design Weekend at the company's showroom, from 23rd of august to the 26th of august 2012, in Sao Paulo (Brazil).

Easy Table Lamp

The  Easy table lamp wants to go to the basics of a lamp (from this comes  the name), made up of only two parts: an arm with the light source and a  base for it.
These elements are combined together simply fitting  one into the other: the arm stands being inserted into the hole created  in the base, making it easy to clean, and to store in a small packaging.
The  lamp is made respecting an eco-friendly approach, the materials used  are: wood for the arm; a composite material made with resin and marble  powder (all waste materials from tha marble production can be  transformed into it) for the base; the light source is made with LED  lights with to possibles intensities of light, if you need a charmy  light or a light to read.

The Easy table lamp is part of a system made also by a floor lamp and a stool-chair.
This system is made to go to the basics of a table lamp, a floor lamp and a stool. They have only two parts: an arm that can be the part of the light source, or the back of the chair, and a base for it.
These elements are combined together simply fitting one into the other: the arm stands being inserted into the hole created in the base, making it easy to clean, to assemble and disassemble.
They are made with eco-friendly materials, like the table lamp: wood for the arm; a composite material for the base; the light source is made with LED lights.

2Taste knife and tray

2Taste  is a cheese tasting set: the traditional cheese knife here has two  functions in its use; it is inspired by the ritual found in the cheese  tasting tradition of Italy, where different types of cheeses are  combined with  honeys or jam products to enhance its taste.
This  dual product has: one part is a knife to slice through cheese; the other  is the honey-spoon to submerge into honey and enjoy.
This knife  comes with a tray made on wood, with little bowls which can be inserted  together in a rail made in the tray, to put honeys and jams to do your  tasting experience.
The materials used are eco-friendly and not  reactive with food: the knife is made in POM resin and wood; the tray is  in wood and the bowls are in POM  resin that is a very inert material.

Alfred Coffee Table

The Alfred Coffee Table is a simple and typical rounded table, but it is particular for its five legs.
Its  five legs are all different for position and dimensions, and they want  to represent five fingers used by the waiter when he brings the tray  with the coffee cups, or other that you have ordered, on it.
The  tray is represented by the top rounded part (with the holes of the legs)  and the removable top. The table can be in two dimensions.
The  materials are mdf for the top rounded part, high density resin for the  legs, plexiglass in different colours for the removable top.

D3 Talents at imm-Cologne 2012

At D3 Talents, during the imm-Cologne 2012 fair, the collection “Nothing more than designing objects” was presented: it is a collection of new projects.

These projects want to follow the particular direction of a functional design: this collection comes from the research of new needs and it wants to answer to them with simple and poetic projects, made by eco-friendly materials.
The projects presented are: Easy System with Easy Table Lamp, Easy floor lamp and Easy Stool-Chair; 2Taste knife and tray; Alfred Coffee Table.

Cindy Lamp

The Cindy lamp has a simple and iconic shape, remembering the typical abat-jour.
It is different from its classic inspirations it for the use of a single material for all the lamp: body and hat are made of pyrex transparent glass.
It is made by only two parts: the body, with its base, the long neck and the upper part, where the bulb goes; and the removable hat (easy to clean and assemble). The bulb place is on satin glass to help the light diffusion.
The elements are combined without using screws; bulb and coloured textile wire fit inside the body; the wire comes out from a little “arm” standing from the body, like offering the way to turn the light on.

Gallo Side Table

This Table has a simple shape made by the assemblage of its elements: a small round table with three legs that are the supports.

The legs at the base evoke the chicken’s foot, and they make the table really stable.It is easy to assemble and disassemble with few screws.

The legs are made of bended metal tubes, painted in white, and one is longer to create the handle of the table. The table is in wood or in coloured tempered glass.

It has four parts to create a structure that has a lot of stability, and it is made with eco-friendly materials.

Chiaroscuro chair is the re-interpretation through coloured layers in leather of  Milano 2015 chair, to show metaphorically the marriage between tradition and innovation.

This object, a contemporary version of the typical chairs in old-fashioned Milanese “osterie”, is upholstered with leather reclaimed from the production of typical pret-à-porter bags and belts. 

The leather has a cromatic scale: black at bottom to the beige on top. That is to underline also with colors that this two references in creativity are connected through gradual steps, to create a general harmony of thinking. 

This project is made with the essential collaboration of Crisden, a leading company in leather goods, that is recognized between the most well known and prestigious Italian and international fashion brands.

This coming edition of Milano Design Week 2011 the project Design for Charity will involve  artists and designers in a creative event at Triennale di Milano. 
A selection of artists, designers, photographers and graphic artists has been  invited to re-interpret a well-known design work, the chair Milano 2015 –  a contemporary version of the typical chairs in old-fashioned Milanese osteria – conveying through new layers of fabric, color and other elements, symbols and  messages enriching and transforming this archetypical object with new meaning  and function.

This table lamp is created with a very simple and intuitive design; it starts with the two main parts needed to build a lamp: the the light and its body. We combine these elements, not with screws or joints but rather simply letting the bulb hang from its body, like a little sweet bird standing on its birdcage.  

This permits to have an easy way to change the bulb, a simple way to clean the lamp, a fast way for assemblage, as well as a smart packaging. The materials used are eco-friendly polycarbonate (heat resistant up to 120°C); colored wire and energy A class 310 lm light bulb.

XS is a portable dishwasher made for Ignis ( Whirlpool Group), that connects to the plumbing system through a tube that is extracted from the machine's structure.

Lus 29/30

It is a light installation for the LED exhibition organized by the Milan municipality. Lüs 29 / 30 is a homage to the tram, the city and the people of Milan to rekind with their past and connect with their future.
The sepia light in the tram is used to create a warm cozy effect from the outside winter, that in addition with the carpet and journal hanger, creates a feeling of an old comfortable living room. The sepia light creates an illusion of an old photograph, enhancing the qualities of the old tram and the people in the interior.
In contrast, the lamp outside the tram becomes an ironic art piece, unifying to the overall concept by bringing the living room to the exterior, as it brings the element of surprise to those on the streets.
The choice of using neon light inside the tram and creating the exterior lamp object is to introduce ironic modern elements to an old iconic object that is the tram. The old and the new. Tram 29/30 goes through all the main sites of the city of Milan bringing the old history to the present.
